Package 5B – Power System Strengthening and Renewable Energy Integration Project
The Power System Strengthening and Renewable Energy Integration Project (PSSREIP-5B) is a high-impact national infrastructure initiative designed to modernize Sri Lanka’s electricity transmission network and support future energy demand in the Western Province. Financed through the Asian Development Bank (ADB), this Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract seeks experienced international contractors to deliver a fully integrated turnkey solution for the construction of a state-of-the-art 132kV Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Grid Substation at Madampitiya, including two 132kV cable circuits connecting to the existing Kerawalapitiya and Kolonnawa Grid Substations. The scope encompasses all design, civil works, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of primary and secondary equipment, protection and control systems, auxiliary services, and telecommunications aligned with international safety and performance standards. This project is a cornerstone of Sri Lanka’s energy strategy, enabling improved load distribution, reducing transmission losses, and enhancing the reliability and quality of power supply in the country’s most economically vital region. Located in the Colombo District, Madampitiya is strategically positioned within the national grid to alleviate congestion and meet increasing industrial and domestic power needs.
