EOI for prequalification to invest in the Galle port development project
Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA) has planned to develop the Port of Galle as a regional port mainly focusing on tourism activities. Initial procurement work including the detailed design for the port facilities has been completed by SLPA. The Port has been planned to develop as a regional port utilizing its infrastructure and strategic location for commercial and tourism aspects. Considering the importance of attracting these opportunities and highly dilapidated infrastructure in the Port, the Galle Port Development Project (GPDP) has been planned to enhance its infrastructure and the safe water area. Under the purview of GPDP, plans have been made to construct a breakwater protecting the entire Gulf of Galle. Galle Harbor is a natural harbor, located in Galle, southwestern coast of Sri Lanka. Currently Galle port serves as one of the most active regional ports in the country and it is the only Sri Lankan port that provides facilities for pleasure yachts. International yacht societies have recognized Galle Harbor as one of the world’s best attractions for yachting. Project scope include Port Facilities, Reclamation of 40 hectares of land, Subsequent mix development in reclaimed land Ancillary support facilities.
