CONSTRUCTION OF A JET A-1 TRANSFER PIPELINE AND TANKS FROM MUTHURAJAWELA TO BANDARANAIKE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, KATUNAYAKE

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) is initiating an infrastructure project that will play a pivotal role in strengthening Sri Lanka’s aviation fuel supply chain. The project entails the engineering, procurement, and construction of a Jet A-1 fuel transfer pipeline, stretching from Muthurajawela terminal complex to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake. Complementing this pipeline will be the development of new, large-capacity Jet A-1 storage tanks, modern pumping and filtration systems, and extensive modifications to the existing terminal facilities at Muthurajawela. This upgrade aims to increase fuel storage capacity, enhance operational safety, and enable efficient, reliable fuel distribution to meet the increasing demands of Sri Lanka’s aviation sector and its ambitious to become a regional air transport hub. With a targeted project completion period of around 900 days, this EPC turnkey venture presents significant opportunities for reputable contractors, engineering firms, technology providers, and investors. Stakeholders will have the chance to collaborate on an essential national project backed by the secure funding and clear governance, ensuring compliance with stringent quality, safety, and environmental standards. By partnering in this transformative initiative, investors and contractors will contribute to building robust fuel infrastructure that safeguards the uninterrupted flow of aviation fuel, bolsters Sri Lanka’s competitiveness, and supports sustainable growth in line with international best practices.
