Sri Lanka’s state owned Lanka Mineral Sand Limited to sell Zircon and mineral sands
The government of Sri Lanka has reportedly announced that the state-run Lanka Mineral Sands Limited will sell 40,000 metric tonnes of non-magnetic heavy mineral concentrate to Alchemy Heavy Metal (Pvt) Ltd for US$ 283.91 a tonne.
According to the government, Alchemy has also won a tender to buy 250 metric tonnes of Zircon from Lanka Mineral Sands at US$ 1,403 dollars a.
Another 13,000 metric tonnes of Low Grade Zircon Crude will be sold at US$ 25.11.

The sale of Zircon and mineral sands by the state owned enterprise is indicative of the many raw materials that are available for sale in Sri Lanka. Apart from the mineral sands, the country also had a large phosphate deposit. Foreign companies engaged in the mineral business could approach the Sri Lankan government and explore business opportunities in carrying out transactions related to minerals.
