Sri Lanka’s national average of tea prices in July show month on month increase
The national average for the month of July 2019 totalled Rs. 497.35 against Rs. 494.48 of June 2019, showing a marginal increase of Rs. 2.87 month on month.
When analysing the respective elevational averages for the month of July 2019-high growns, totalling Rs. 449.10 for July 2019 have recorded a decrease of Rs. 9.45 vis-à-vis Rs. 458.55 of June 2019.
Mediums averaging Rs. 414.40 for July 2019 have recorded a decrease of Rs. 16.34 vis-à-vis Rs. 430.74 of June 2019.
Meanwhile, Low Growns totalling Rs. 538.63 for July 2019 have recorded an increase of Rs. 12.11 vis-à-vis Rs. 526.52 of June 2019.
When compared to Rs. 555.71 of July 2018, shows a decrease of Rs. 17.08 year on year.

The government of Sri Lanka has given priority to the upliftment and development of the country’s tea industry. Many incentive programmes have also been introduced to the tea industry. Sri Lanka’s tea authorities are to also launch a massive global promotional campaign to boost the country’s tea industry next month. Also, Sri Lanka’s tea exports have also increased to several foreign markets. Foreign businesses/investors could therefore explore business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s tea sector.
