OSL take:
Sri Lanka’s manufacturing and export industries are two key revenue generators to the country with local authorities focusing on further expanding the industries. Among the mechanisms adopted by local authorities to promote local industries and exports has been the participation in many foreign expositions while on the other hand, encouraging local businesses to focus on more value-addition and diversification of Sri Lanka’s current export commodity portfolio. These moves were aimed at getting more access to foreign markets while meeting the fast-evolving requirements of the global market. Given the response received by local businesses participating in foreign exhibitions and the interest shown thereafter by foreign businesses/investors to explore business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s manufacturing and exports industries, the growing business potential in these industries present many lucrative ventures. The many trade agreements as well as trade concessions enjoyed by Sri Lanka with many foreign countries have added to the support received by the country’s manufacturing and export industries. Foreign businesses/investors could therefore explore the expanding business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s manufacturing and exports industries while also looking at the possibilities of expanding operations through local collaborations.
