Sri Lankan government connects 3.3MW dendro power plant to the national grid

Vidullanka Plc of Sri Lanka, which is a public traded company, has reportedly stated that the Sri Lankan government has commissioned a 3.3MW dendro power plant that has been connected to the national grid from May 30.
The plant is expected to generate 22 GigaWatt hours (millions of units) a year, a local media report has stated.
According to reports, the plant is run by Vidul Biomass (Pvt) Ltd, a joint venture with Vidullanka and OC Energy Lanka (Pvt) ltd, a unit of Japan based Obayashi Corporation, a construction group.
The plant is based in Dehiattakandiya.
Vidullanka had earlier said the plant cost RS. 1.4 billion of which Rs. 450 million was equity. The 950 came from a syndicated loan, guaranteed by Vidullanka Plc, reports add.
