Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority records increase in tourist arrivals in January 2019
Sri Lanka’s tourism industry has reportedly gotten off to a modest start in 2019 with arrivals improving by 2% in January.
According to reports, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has stated that arrivals in January amounted to 244,239 up by 2.2% from 238,924 a year earlier.
India was the biggest source market followed by China and UK, reports further stated.
Last year tourist arrivals had amounted to 2.38 million, up 10.3% over 2017.

The increase in tourist arrivals recorded by Sri Lanka’s tourism industry in January 2019 is indicative of the continuous growth recorded by the country’s tourism sector. Given the ambitious targets on tourist arrivals set by local authorities and the continuous development programmes, Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is a hotbed for business/investment opportunities.
