Sri Lanka participates in SIAL Canada 2019 Food and Beverage Sector International Exhibition
Sri Lanka has reportedly participated in the SIAL Canada 2019 Food and Beverage Sector International Exhibition that was held in Enercare Centre, Toronto from April 30- May 2, 2019.
Sri Lanka’s national participation was coordinated by the Consulate General in Toronto together with the Sri Lanka Tea Board.
SIAL Canada is one of the most popular professional food and beverage sector exhibitions being held annually in Canada, and visited by several thousand buyers, buying agents, importers, food sector distributors, experts, wholesalers, and retailers.
According to reports, the exhibition was attended by local and international exhibitors from 67 countries as well as over 18,000 professional buyers/visitors from Canada, United States, and other countries. United States, China, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Spain, Germany, Italy, UAE, Portugal, Jordan, Austria, Turkey, France, Greece, Argentina, Egypt, Brazil, Mexico, South Korea, The Netherlands, Ecuador were among the countries that participated at this trade event.
Sri Lanka was represented by Sri Lanka Tea Board, displaying value added Ceylon Tea from 5 Sri Lankan companies; Mlesna Tea, Imperial Tea Exporters Pvt. Ltd, Akbar Brothers, Ceylon Tea Land, and Hyleys Tea Canada.
Canadian based Sri Lankan Tea Company, Basilur Canada and M&M Twins Pvt. Ltd. also participated at this event.

Local businesses should look at making maximum use of the exposure received by Sri Lanka’s participation in foreign trade fairs and exhibitions. Sri Lanka’s bilateral relations with many foreign nations as well as the free trade agreements and trade concessions will give a much needed impetus to local businesses to venture into global markets.
