Sri Lanka participates in 27th Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global at the Brussels Expo

Seafood Exporters of Sri Lanka has reportedly participated at the 27th Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global at the Brussels Expo, which is the world’s largest trade fair in the fisheries sector held in Brussels, Belgium.
According to reports, the Sri Lankan Pavilion was organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Belgium at SEG 2019 in hall No.5 comprised six (6) leading Seafood Exporters in Sri Lanka viz Jaysea Food Processing Pvt Ltd, Global Seafood Pvt Ltd, Tropic Fishery Pvt Ltd, Lihini Seafood Pvt Ltd, Ceylon Fresh Seafood Pvt Ltd & Annai Seafood Pvt Ltd.
The Sri Lankan exhibitors had displayed fresh and frozen seafood verities such as Tuna, Shrimps, Crabs, Lobsters, Sword fish, Reef fish etc.
The main objective was to promote Sri Lankan seafood and aquaculture products in the EU Market while utilizing benefits under the GSP+ scheme for Sri Lankan fishery product to EU.
Seafood Expo Global in Brussels is the most important annual event for seafood buyers and the visitors are industry owners, executive purchasing managers, category managers, private label programme buyers and equipment and packaging buyers from restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, catering services, importers, distributors in the seafood trade, media reports state.
High-volume buyers from all over the world attend the event to meet with suppliers, see new products and discover industry trends, reports add.

Sri Lanka has many advantages to help promote local exports starting from the country’s geographical positioning to the many free trade agreements enjoyed by the country.
