Sri Lanka Investment Forum 2026 kicks off in March

Daily FT: The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) will host the Sri Lanka Investment Forum 2026 on 30 March at Cinnamon Life, Colombo, under the theme of investing in Sri Lanka’s green and connected future.
Organised in partnership with the European Union (EU), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Forum will present Sri Lanka’s investment landscape with a focus on sustainability, technology-driven growth, and economic recovery.
The agenda includes sessions titled ‘Registration,’ ‘Inaugural Session,’ ‘Navigating Sri Lanka’s Economic Recovery,’ and ‘Sri Lanka’s Investment Ecosystem,’ followed by a dedicated segment under ‘Shaping the Green Future,’ which will cover ‘Renewable Energy Development Landscape,’ ‘Investing in Green Transition,’ and ‘Green Finance Instruments.’
A closed-door ‘EU-SL Investor Dialogue – Closed Door Event’ has also been scheduled, alongside ‘Deal Matching and B2B Connect.’
Sector-themed parallel sessions under ‘Sector Themed Parallel Sessions’ will focus on the ‘Services Sector,’ ‘Manufacturing Sector,’ ‘Leisure and Recreation,’ and ‘Infrastructure.’ The services track will include logistics, integrated warehousing, and aviation services, while manufacturing will cover value-added processing, pharmaceuticals, and industrial manufacturing. Leisure discussions will focus on nautical and waterfront tourism, hotel development, and theme and amusement parks, and the infrastructure track will examine technology and innovation parks, university towns, and cinema cities.
The Forum is co-funded by the EU, with in-kind support from the ADB and ESCAP, and is expected to bring together policymakers, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to discuss investment opportunities across key sectors of the economy.

Sri Lanka is in the process of attracting more foreign businesses/investors to the country inline with the country’s overall economic activities and expansion. The country’s economic resilience and the quick turn around after facing an unprecedented economic crisis in 2022 have resulted in increasing confidence in Sri Lanka among foreign businesses/investors. Also, Sri Lanka’s geographical positioning in the Indian Ocean, the many trade agreements as well as trade concessions enjoyed by the country with many foreign countries and the improving ease of doing business environment in the country have added to the country’s positioning as an emerging business destination in the South Asian region, working towards becoming a regional hub. The ongoing expansion of Sri Lanka’s key economic sectors have opened many business/investment opportunities presenting lucrative ventures for foreign businesses/investors. Given the growth and profits recorded by businesses operating in Sri Lanka and the increasing interest among foreign businesses/investors to explore the expanding opportunities in the country indicating the increasing business potential in the country, foreign businesses/investors could confidently explore the expanding business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka. These foreign businesses could also look at expanding operations in Sri Lanka through local collaborations.
