Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2019 in Colombo in September

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has announced that the Sri Lanka Economic Summit (SLES) 2019 organised by the Commerce will commence from the 17-18 September at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo.
The theme of the summit will be ‘Recalibrating Sri Lanka’s Economic Trajectory Towards 2025 (RE-SET 2025). The Chamber has announced that the theme was chosen to reflect the need to re-calibrate the status-quo of the economy, and the overall journey towards the development of Sri Lanka.
According to reports, while domestic policies will take centre stage, global dynamics that will potentially unfold over the next decade are to be discussed at the summit. Also, in the agenda for discussion are the role that transformative technologies will play and Sri Lanka’s own progress in adopting these technologies where relevant.
The local media has reported that this year’s summit will deliberate on key proposals and reforms that needs to be implemented in the period leading up to 2025 in order for Sri Lanka to realise its true economic potential.
The Economic Summit last year focused on trade, investment, and services that thrust Sri Lanka’s economy forward, and had over 450 participants.
