Shangri-La Group to open One Galle Face integrated development project in Sri Lanka on November 8th
Sri Lanka’s One Galle Face integrated development project by Shangri-La Group is to open its doors to the public from this November 8th.
Joining The Residences at One Galle Face and Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo, which opened in 2018 and 2017 respectively will be the One Galle Face Mall and One Galle Face Tower, local media reports state.
The entire One Galle Face integrated development is built and managed by Shangri-La Group, and brings to life an all-encompassing live, work, and play concept, never seen before in Sri Lanka.
According to reports, at 480,000 square feet, the equivalent of eight football pitches, the One Galle Face Mall is the largest international mall in Sri Lanka. The seven-store mall will be home to more than 200 tenants, and offer visitors an unparalleled shopping experience catering to their every need in terms of dining, entertainment, beauty, technology and shopping.
The local media has reported that the anchor tenants at One Galle Face Mall include Food Studio, a one-of-a-kind international food court operator whose One Galle Face branch will be inspired by the scenes and sights of Singapore; Keells, a pioneering supermarket chain in Sri Lanka, who will trial some new retail technology at its One Galle Face branch; Odel, the country’s first department store and a household name in apparels and accessories; and PVR Cinemas, one of India’s largest film entertainment companies, who will operate Sri Lanka’s first dedicated kids cinema at One Galle Face Mall.
Visitors to One Galle Face Mall can also look forward to several new-to-market brands and concepts exclusive to One Galle Face. These include Adventure Zone, the largest immersive play space for those aged two to twelve; Trainyard, an innovative, larger-than-life workout hotspot; and Omega’s first flagship luxury boutique in Colombo.
Other international brands making their debut in Sri Lanka at One Galle Face Mall include Chili’s, an American casual dining restaurant featuring Tex-Mex-style cuisine; L’Occitane en Provence, an international retailer of body, face and clothing retailer Diesel.
One Galle Face is Colombo’s first internationally developed and managed mixed-use development project.
OSL take:
The expansion of Sri Lanka’s economy has resulted in the expansion of business/investment opportunities in the country. The opening of One Galle Face in Colombo will mark a milestone in the country as it will be the first internationally developed and managed mixed use development project in Sri Lanka. It would also serve as an example that could be followed by other foreign businesses/investors, especially in the proposed Colombo Port City project. Sri Lanka’s geographical positioning in the Indian Ocean, the ease of doing business environment in the country and the many trade agreements as well as the trade concessions enjoyed by the country have made it an attractive business destination in South Asia. Therefore foreign businesses/investors could explore business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
