Ella Sewerage and Waste Water Treatment Plant
The Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL), through the National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWSDB), is set to tender the Ella Sewerage & Wastewater Treatment Project under a Build Operate-Transfer (BOT) model to address the regions’s growing sanitation needs. As a rapidly expanding tourist hotspot, Ella faces increasing pressure on its existing wastewater infrastructure, necessitating the development of a modern sewerage system and treatment facility. This project aims to enhance environmental sustainability, public health, and urban infrastructure, ensuring efficient wastewater management while supporting Ella’s tourism-driven economic growth. will involve the design, construction, operation, and eventual transfer of a state-of-the-art sewage treatment plant and an upgraded sewer network to cater to both residents and the high influx of tourists.
