Japanese government relaxes travel advisory issued on Sri Lanka

The government of Japan has joined many countries that have relaxed travel advisories issued on Sri Lanka following the stabilisation of the security situation in island as a result of the large-scale and intensive investigations and security re-enforcement by the concerned authorities.
Accordingly, the Government of Japan has relaxed the travel advisory nation-wide from level-2 (refrain from non-essential travel) to level-1 (exercise sufficient caution) on 25 June.
The Government of Japan like many other countries issued a travel advisory on Sri Lanka to its citizens discouraging them from visiting the country following the Easter Sunday attacks.
The revision on the travel advisory was announced by the Japanese Embassy in Colombo.
“The Government of Japan relaxed the travel advisory nation-wide from level-2 (refrain from non-essential travel) to level-1(exercise sufficient caution) on June 25, 2019,” the Japanese Embassy has stated in a statement.
“The Government of Japan, however, continues to advise the Japanese nationals to maintain sufficient vigilance during their stay in Sri Lanka with possible occurrence of terrorist attacks and other incidents of violence in mind.”
Japan has further noted that it was relaxing the advisory due to “stabilization of security situation in Sri Lanka as a result of the large-scale and intensive investigations and security re-enforcement by the concerned authorities.”
Almost every foreign country that issued travel advisories on Sri Lanka following the Easter Sunday attacks have relaxed them paving the way for foreign nationals to visit the island once more.

As Japan joins the list of many countries that have already relaxed travel advisories issued on Sri Lanka in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday attacks will once again result in an increase in tourist arrivals to the country. The number of tourist arrivals to the country would likely see a considerable increase now as many of Sri Lanka’s key tourist source marketers have relaxed advisories on the island. Also, Sri Lanka’s tourism authorities have launched many promotional campaigns to woo tourists back to the country while tourism stakeholders in the country have been benefited by the relief package offered by the government of Sri Lanka to them. Sri Lanka’s tourism industry that suffered a blow following the Easter Sunday attacks is expected to make a full recovery within the next few months. Therefore, foreign businesses/investors could explore business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.
