FACETS Sri Lanka 2026 marks a bold new era with a dynamic new direction

The Morning: FACETS 2026 Sri Lanka, the nation’s most prestigious gem and jewellery exhibition, proudly announces its 32nd edition with a dynamic new direction.

FACETS 2026 will take place from 3 to 5 January 2026 at The Forum, Cinnamon Life – City of Dreams, heralding an exciting transformation for the globally renowned event.

This year, FACETS moves to a cutting-edge new venue and introduces a visionary concept that reflects both the rich legacy and the forward-thinking future of Sri Lanka’s gem and jewellery industry.

With a bold new visual identity, immersive experiences, and a campaign grounded in authenticity and innovation, FACETS 2026 invites the world to rediscover Sri Lanka as a global gemstone destination.

Since its inception in 1991, FACETS Sri Lanka has grown from a niche industry showcase into an internationally recognized platform that connects Sri Lankan gem and jewellery craftsmanship with the world.

For over three decades, the exhibition has played a vital role in highlighting Sri Lanka’s extraordinary natural treasure – the Ceylon Sapphire – and the masterful artistry of local gem cutters and jewellers.

From early showcases at the Hilton and BMICH to its elegant transition to Cinnamon Grand and now to the visionary spaces of Cinnamon Life, FACETS has evolved in scale, style, and scope — reflecting the changing face of the industry and its aspirations.

“FACETS has always been more than just an exhibition. It’s a celebration of Sri Lanka’s heritage, skill, and global ambition,” said Akram Cassim, President of the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association (SLGJA). “FACETS 2026 marks a turning point — a new chapter that looks to the future while honouring everything that brought us here.”

FACETS 2026 will take visitors on a full-circle journey — from the sustainable mining practices of ancient times to state-of-the-art gemstone cutting, ethical sourcing, and contemporary jewellery design.

The exhibition will feature the latest innovations in gemology and lapidary work, showcasing the vibrant spectrum of sapphires — from royal blue and teal to the rare and coveted Padparadscha.

Dedicated zones will illustrate Sri Lanka’s “Mine to Market” story, including: A walk-through of historical mining tools and practices, displays of rough and polished stones, Innovations in gem cutting and design, VR experiences of Sri Lankan gem mines, Youth-focused showcases to inspire the next generation of gem professionals.

“FACETS mirrors the heartbeat of our industry,” noted Armil Samoon, Chairman of FACETS 2026.

“This year’s edition blends tradition with transformation. We’re not just exhibiting jewellery — we’re telling stories, inspiring futures, and elevating Sri Lanka’s position in the world gem arena.”
