Colombo Fashion Week presents platform for destination marketing, global collaboration
EconomyNext: The 23rd edition of Sri Lanka’s flagship fashion show, Colombo Fashion Week (CFW), will feature designers from Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Africa organizers said.
“We have collaborated with BRICS International Fashion Federation, where Colombo Fashion is a founding member,” Ajay Vir Singh, Managing Director, Colombo Fashion Week, told reporters at the launch.
“This platform can be used for destination marketing” through fashion, arts and culture, Vir Singh said.
CFW will take place between April 1 to 4 at Cinnamon Life City of Dreams.
The event will also be partnered by Mastercard, NDB Wealth Management, Nestle Lanka, Cargills Sports and Beverages, Vision Care and Hameedias.
A highlight this year is Mastercard will extend its transaction based donations towards the building of a cancer hospital in Karapitiya, to CFW this year, Sandun Hapugoda, Country Manager – Sri Lanka & Maldives, Mastercard, said.

Sri Lanka is continuing to present areas that further promote the country as a travel destination for foreign tourists with the latest being fashion. CFW has become an annual fashion feature in Sri Lanka and has attracted many foreign tourists as well as foreign businesses/investors to explore business/investment opportunities in the country’s growing fashion industry. The country’s apparel industry has also shown promising growth by creating business opportunities. However, using CFW for destination marketing opens new opportunities for foreign businesses/investors to explore in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry as well as in the fashion industry. Foreign businesses could also look at entering Sri Lanka and engaging in the field of fashion through local collaborations.
