Cabinet approves construction contract of H’tota LPG filling plant
Based on the recommendation of the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee and Technical Evaluation Committee, Dockyard General Engineering Services secured the contract to build the gas filling factory of Litro Gas Lanka Company, Hambantota after placing a bid for LKR 647,250,555.86.
According to the Minister of Public Enterprise Development, Kabir Hashim the newly constructed filling factory will allow Litro Gas to use the factory in a cost efficient manner, adding that consumers in Hambantota, Ampara, Monaragala, Batticaloa, Badulla, Matara and Ratnapura will be benefited.
According to joint Cabinet spokesman Minister Rajitha Senaratne, the government’s decision to increase the price of an LPG gas cylinder by LKR 110 was reasonable as consumers were enjoying benefits exceeding LKR 400 since the new government took over from the previous one.

A new LPG filling factory will allow Litro to easily and cheaply refill their domestic gas cylinder, also this project will inspire other companies to make similar investments.
