China is to invest US$ 1 billion in the construction of three 60-storey buildings at a mega-project near Sri Lanka’s main port, Colombo said Tuesday, as Beijing aims to boost its influence in the Indian Ocean, AFP news agency has reported.
The Sri Lanka – Malaysia Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) had reportedly held a business meeting with members of the Malaysia – Sri Lanka Business Chamber recently at the CCC.
The Sri Lankan tea auction is expected to return to normal on Tuesday/Wednesday with usual Russian demand after Russian authorities agreed to lift the temporary ban on Sri Lankan tea imports, media report sate.

Official statistics have revealed that Sri Lanka’s exports have risen by 14.1 percent from a year earlier to US$ 976 million in October 2017.
