The World Bank Board of Directors has reportedly approved a US$ 70 million credit to improve the quality of life of around one million people living in Northern, North Central, Eastern and Uva Provinces in Sri Lanka.
Noberasco of Italy has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Sri Lanka’s Fruit and Vegetable Producers, Processors and Exporters Association (LFVPPEA) in a bid to boost the export of local fruits and vegetables.
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has recorded a 7.4% increase in the country’s total exports of goods in 2018 to US$ 11.9 billion. Also, imports have recorded a growth of 6% to US$ 22.2 billion.
Sri Lanka’s Tourism Development Minister John Amaratunga has reportedly said that work is underway to implement on-arrival visas free-of-charge for multiple countries from 1 May.
