OSL take:

Sri Lanka’s healthcare industry is on a steady growth path with the increasing local demand as well as the increase in medical exports. While Sri Lanka sources most of its pharmaceuticals from overseas markets, there has been an increase in demand to expand pharmaceuticals and medical equipment manufacturing facilities in the country. Sri Lanka’s tourism industry is also focused on the healthcare industry with the promotion of medical and wellness tourism among foreign travelers to the country. It is in such a background that the ADB has approved funds to further expand the country’s healthcare industry. The increasing local demand in the further development of the country’s healthcare industry and the expansion of manufacturing processes in the industry have presented a host of business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s healthcare industry and related sectors. The growth, profits and expansion recorded by businesses already engaged in the country’s healthcare industry and related sectors are clear indications of the increasing business potential in the industry. Realizing this business potential, the Sri Lankan government has also presented many incentive schemes for businesses/investors entering the industry. Given all these factors, foreign businesses/investors could explore the expanding business/investment opportunities in Sri Lanka’s healthcare industry and related sectors, while also looking into possibilities of expanding operations through local collaborations.
