WB and Finance Minister talk of South Asian integration and climate change

The World Bank’s Executive Director India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka, S. Aparna, Country Director Idah Z. Pswarayi-Riddihough has held discussions with Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera about enhanced South Asian integration and natural disaster alleviation, the Finance Ministry said.
“Discussions also focused on how the government could leverage resources to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and encouraged the government to integrate more with other nations in South Asia,” the Finance Ministry said.
Aparna is reported to have extended the World Bank’s willingness to cooperate with the Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) to help lessen the impact from natural climatic crisis.

OSL TAKE:

Such an initiative will allow for enterprising innovations and technologies regarding climate detection to be introduced to the country. Also further South Asian integration will allow for easier commercial activities to be facilitated between regional nations.
