Sri Lanka’s CCC to strengthen business links with Singapore to gain maximum benefits from recently signed FTA

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka has reportedly stated that it has strengthened links with Singapore businesses to exploit opportunities that would be effective with the signing of the free trade agreement (FTA) between Sri Lanka and Singapore.
According to local media reports, the Sri Lanka Singapore Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Sri Lanka-Singapore Business Council has stated that in January it had signed a MoU with another Singaporean chamber, the Singapore Business Federation.
“With the signing of the MoU with the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we look forward to a strong partnership between our Chambers and membership resulting in growing trade and investment opportunities,” President of the Sri Lanka-Singapore Business Council, Shamil Mendis is quoted as saying in a statement.
The Chamber has noted that a delegation from the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry looking to invest and trade with Sri Lanka is already engaged in networking for opportunities in local businesses.

OSL take:

The FTA between Sri Lanka and Singapore will add to the list of other trade treaties and trade concessions enjoyed by Sri Lanka with other countries making the island nation one of the most attractive destinations for foreign businesses/investors. The latest FTA between Sri Lanka and Singapore would undoubtedly be beneficial to both nations and foreign companies as well as local business entities should look at exploiting the full potential for trade encapsulated in the agreement.
