Positive response to Jaffna Investor Forum

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) is reported to have conducted the third Investor Forum in Jaffna last week at the Tilko Jaffna City Hotel.
The forum featured presentations by Dr. M. Ganeshamoorthy, Senior Lecturer Department of Economics, University of Colombo and R. Raguram, Research Analyst NDB Securities (Pvt) Ltd.
The Forum is said to have generated an overwhelmingly encouraging response with over 250 existing and potential investors, professionals and the business community having actively participated.
Stock Brokers and Unit Trust Management Companies were also represented at the Forum, and a panel comprised of Tushara Jayaratne, Director, External Relations and Surveillance SEC, M. Thileepan, Manager, Jaffna Branch of the CSE, and other speakers responded to audience questions after the presentations concluded.
The next series of the Investor Forum is expected to be conducted in Kandy on September 9th and again in Galle on September 30th.

OSL TAKE:

Encouraging investor participation outside the commercial capital, Colombo will introduce successful entrepreneurs in those locations to the larger business mainstream.
It will solicit their participation in the country’s trading activities and eventually propel them to form synergies with businesses outside the country, thereby attracting new businesses to locales that have the potential to commercially expand since they have not yet been fully explored to their maximum potential.
