In 2018 SL to conduct local PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards

After Sri Lankan property developers showed a keen interest in the 2017 PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards in Singapore, the regional online property company has decided to launch the “PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Sri Lanka)”expected to be held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo in July 2018.
The 2018 awards will contain over 20 categories which is a significant increase from 2017’s 13 categories and willencompass different property segments so that the best real estate across the whole of Sri Lanka can be represented. Submission for eligible nominations in the Developer, Development and Design categories have currently been opened with the deadline set for May 11, 2018 and the official shortlist expected to be announced during the first week of June 2018.
Special awards in CSR and sustainable development will be handed out to worthy companies as part of PropertyGuru’s own CSR endeavour during the 2018 awards.
“With Sri Lanka holding its own domestic edition, we are providing local developers an established and trusted platform by which industry standards are bench-marked and a venue to network with peers and colleagues. Since 2005, the Asia Property Awards series has been widely recognised across the region for its prestige and credibility, as well as lavish black-tie gala events. The newly announced 2018 local edition in Colombo will create more opportunity for Sri Lankan developers to participate in the competition that recognises real estate excellence via a fair, transparent and ethical awards,” Founder and Managing Director of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, Terry Blackburn said.
The judges will be Dr Nirmal De Silva, co-founder and chief executive of Paramount Realty, Stephanie Balendra, director, SB Realtors (Private) Limited; Roshan Madawela, director and founding CEO, Research Intelligence Unit; Emeritus Prof. Chitra Weddikkra, managing director, QServe Pte Ltd and Steven Mayes managing director, JLL Sri Lanka. The same members served on the 2017 panel.¹
Despite the gala ceremony hosted in Colombo, Sri Lankan winners will nevertheless represent Sri Lanka at the “8th Annual PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final”which will be hosted during the end of 2018 in Singapore. The participants will be eligible to compete for more regional awards and be awarded the “Best in Asia” title.
The PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Sri Lanka) 2018 is supported by official portal partner PropertyGuru.com.sg; official portal partner in Sri Lanka, Lankapropertyweb.com; media partner PropertyGuru Property Report; and official supervisor BDO led by Sri Lanka managing partner Sujeewa Rajapakse.²
Sri Lanka participated for the first time in the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards 2017, with 9-developrs securing domestic awards and expected to represent the country in November, 2017 for the Grand Final event in Singapore.
